So, how do you install and configure Mumble?

Firstly, go to the mumble website and download the app. As mumble is waiting on the Celt codecs to finalise, you will need to download the 1.2 snapshot. If 1.2 (or higher) is available as a non snapshot download, get that instead.

Once it downloads, just double click and install.

Now, once it has installed you will need to configure Mumble. The first thing you should do is get the extended options. To get to this select

Configure>Settings>User Interface

Again, I've circled the two options for you. You must check both of these options before we can continue.

Once they are set, go back into the settings screen and you will now have more options at the top of the screen. From here, choose Overlay.

From within the overlay tab, unselect the tick box for "enable Overlay".

Why? well punkbuster does not allow applications to display text from other apps in game. If you leave this selected you will get kicked for using it (and possibly people will think you are hacking!!!). This same problem occurs for users of fraps and sometimes xfire on update.

Once this is done, the last thing to do is setup the mic. Simply go to 'Configure>Audio Wizard'. This will now direct you through setting up your mic. Remember to select 'echo cancellation' if you use speakers and not a headset!

One last thing...

Go to the plugins tab in settings 'Configure>settings>plugins'. If you you enable 'Link tto game and transmit Poition', you will now get positional audio within the game and be able to tell where your team mates are (in scrims/matches), or everyone is on public (well those in the same mumble server as you anyway!! )
