Call of duty: Modern Warefare 2 (part 1) 04.10.09 20:48

With 1 month to go, until release. I thought I'd put up some info to get people interested.

Call of duty: Modern Warefare 2 (part 1)

Written by Motiv

ok, lets start with multiplayer and let's end with multiplayer because lets be honest, that's what we're all going to be playing. While some of you will like the slimmed down modded versions of the game, here's the information I've found relating to the vanilla MP version. Some you will like, some you will hate.

Well first off, if you are used to the PC version of CoD4, you will understand prestige mode. Well this is also on the PC version now. The difference between the old prestige mode, is that now it unlocks extra stuff. So, if you rank to lvl 70 (yep, lvl 70 this time) and choose to go prestige, more challenges and whatnot become available (but not weapons). This allows people with more time than sense to rank up again and again, gaining more extra stuff.

Prestige will show in game, so your dedication to the cause will be know :)

Next up, kill streaks. Love them or hate them, they are now part of CoD. In MW2, they have a slight twist. they are user definable!

Bored of 3, 5, and 7 kill streaks. well define your 3 choices at 9, 10 and 11 and get different killstreaks. There are 15 (at least) killstreaks that need unlocking. Some of the known ones are. Ac130, UAV, care package, Counter UAV, Sentry Gun, Predator missile, Precision Airstrike, Attack Helicoptor, Pave Low and others.

now, for those less skilled at the game, there are death streaks. From what I have heard, IW have responded to DiVAS own players, Pilly and pessy, and brought in this feature.

If you die, time after time and don't get a frag. The game comes to your rescue to help you out. It might give you a little extra health or another being you can copy the perks that the guy who killed you have for a round.

Nothing to worry about making some super soldier but enough to help out the less experienced players.

Another new and in my eyes a welcome addition, is the callsigns. There are, in there words, dozens of these. I suspect that translates to 4 but hey, you never know :)

What are they? well, if you specialise at knifing people, you might gain the "knife Champion" badge. You can then select the game to show this when people see/kill you. It means that your expertise it stuff other than killing with an AK47, is shown and gives you a bit of Kudos for it.

from what I've seen, there are ones for sniping, using suppressors, shooting helicopters, planting, defusing, being alive the longest, headshots and even camping at spawn like a biatch. the last one I made up but I suspect there's one for tigger. If there is 'hundreds' of these, they will make the game a little bit entertaining.

Accolades are another new addition. Similar to callsigns but given out at the end of a match. These are to give awards to people who do more...odd things. Stuff like, person who stayed prone the longest, highest average altitude and other wierd stuff like that.

XP this time round is gained in more than the usual way. yes, you get it for frags but now you get it for being more a team player. defusing, planting, shooting helicopters, using speciality perks, knifing etc etc. Something that widens the spectrum of killing.

So you only knife with night vision on, expect to be rewarded. Only use a pistol? Rewards galore. Expect to be amused when the DiVA night-vision knife squads roam the game, or the DiVAS pistol squads ;)

well, here ends Part 1. Hopefully, I'll have time for part 2 and the new weapons/perks.
